Given that 174 Free Schools have been opened, that means that there are potentially over 55 schools out there that are letting our children down despite the many millions pumped into this adventure. Not a great record for a Flagship Policy, particularly one which has made Gove “Mr Untouchable” within Government.
I have always said that financial malfeasance is going to be a major issue as a result of Free Schools. It looks like academic excellence (or lack of it) will run alongside. If that’s Gove’s idea of legacy, then I suggest he gets to the back of the queue.
